ABOUT Joya Lahoud
Joya Lahoud, MHC-LP brings a direct yet deeply compassionate approach to her work with individuals, adolescents, couples, and families. She is committed to creating a collaborative space where clients feel genuinely seen, challenged when it serves them, and supported throughout their growth. Joya earned her MA and M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Columbia University and her BA in Psychology and ASL/Deaf Culture from the University of Miami.
In her work, Joya draws on psychodynamic principles and attachment theory to explore the deeper roots of presenting concerns, integrating Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to equip clients with practical tools for lasting change. With couples and families, she draws on the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) to help clients deepen connection, improve communication, and move toward meaningful change together.
Her areas of focus span across a wide range from attachment issues, schizophrenia, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, and eating disorders, as well as relationship and intimacy concerns, family conflict, and first-generation and Deaf and Hard of Hearing community experiences.
