Xuena “Grace” Cui an LMHC based in New York State. Xuena provides therapy in both Mandarin and English. She graduated from Columbia University’s Counseling Psychology Program in the US and holds a Master’s Degree in Pharmacology from China. Before becoming a therapist, she worked for 10 years, bringing valuable life experience to her practice.
Her therapy approach is integrated and holistic, blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-centered Therapy, and Mindfulness-based Therapy. A significant aspect of her work involves exploring clients’ childhood experiences and relationships with primary caregivers, which helps with identifying and unlocking behavioral and relationship patterns that influence current challenges. She also incorporates principles of neuroscience and brain health to help clients understand the significance of diet, sleep, and physical activity in mental well-being. Utilizing evidence-based interventions, Xuena aims to address symptoms and uncover the root causes of distress to facilitate deep and lasting healing.
Xuena has had the honor of working with clients aged 6 to 76 from diverse cultural backgrounds. Xuena’s therapeutic style is warm, empowering, and supportive, striking a balance between directive and gentle. To balance work and life, she embraces the calming influence of nature by going to the beach, gardening, practicing yoga, reading, writing, cooking, or simply taking walks in the park. These activities help her stay grounded and bring a warm, relaxed energy to her practice.
